Melissa Shivers

Independent Contractor

Melissa Shivers is grateful to be able to help people through difficult seasons; she enjoys working with both couples and individuals and has a special interest in working with those struggling with anxiety and depression. She is also passionate about providing Christian counseling for those who are struggling with faith-based issues.

Her approach to counseling depends on the client and his or her needs and treatment goals. She prefers to use evidence-based practices such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and/or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also often uses a solution-focused or person-centered approach as well. She views her role in the therapeutic relationship as supporting each client in meeting their treatment goals.

Melissa graduated from Faith International University with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. She has worked in community mental health since 2015 while she earned a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministry with a counseling concentration from Faith Evangelical Seminary.
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with friends and family, go for walks, paint, and solve logic puzzles.
